Re: FreeDNS Configuration

Ok i managed to see the text on the link above by using by clicking on an old revision: ===== freedns.afraid.org ===== * **Hostname:** The desired hostname chosen during the account registration. * **Username:** token for the host - see dns status page for details * **Password:** leave this field bl...

Re: FreeDNS Configuration

I hate to revisit this, but i've had issues with this not working for ages. the information supplied here i dare say doesn't work anymore. There are no tools or bash script files for download. The reason why i'd like this to work is because no-ip.com makes it so annoying to once a month update one's...

Re: Is there something wrong with the samba and sane packages in pakfire?

@ Deepcuts: fearing corruption is what pushed me towards a reinstall in the first place. The 102 install was clean. Corruption of the SD card was a distinct possibility, as power outages are known that they can have such an effect on the raspberry pi. However the fact that most packages install fin...

Issues with pakfire ?

As no one seem to check posts in the installation section, i thought i'd be better off putting something here. I'm having issues with installing pakfire packages, samba, sane and phpsane (others install fine - well that's the other ones i use of course). Please have a look here: http://forum.ipfire....

Re: Is there something wrong with the samba and sane packages in pakfire?

Ok so i thought i'd try the manual way as described here (bottom post by ummeege): http://forum.ipfire.org/viewtopic.php?t=12370 I tried this for the samba package corresponding to my architecture. The results are show in the image below. As one can see there's errors. However i'm no BSD wizard, so ...

Is there something wrong with the samba and sane packages in pakfire?

Problem: all my addons install fine except for samba and sane History: I was running core 109 on my Raspberry Pi, but was running in kernel panic all of a sudden. Even rebooting would result in the same problem. Having backups, i figured reinstalling was the way to go & restoring the backups. Sadly...

Arne you say "YET", does that mean it's on the cards?

If so, what the time frame on it?

How to install addtional python programs via terminal ?

Quick question. I'm running core 102 on my raspberry Pi and i'd like to install RPi.GPIO to get some additional hardware functionality. Normally the underlying system is such that this can easily be installed through a package manager like apt-get or else PIP. Since IpFire is based on Linux from Scr...

Re: Upgrade from 83 to 97 pakfire progress reporting problem

i'd like to add my 2 cents to this. I did something similar to Den, albeit i started @ core 85. The issues as explained by Arne probably happened to me too: i run Ipfire on a rapberrry pi. However. I came across a really nasty error (i think i suspected it had something to do with updating my IP add...

Creating an add-on for auto connect to a VPN provider

Just thought i'd put it in here to get some exposure/attention to this, as this would be an awesome add-on to have. Because of my interest in this i did some searches on the forum and came across something in a location where no one will easily find it i think: http://forum.ipfire.org/viewtopic.php?...

Re: OpenVPN client connect to VPN Provider

I too use such a provider. And yes it all works great running as a client on a single PC, but putting this on the ipfire firewall would be fantastic. This would offer vpn to all connected PCs in one go, unlike being allowed to only connect 2 PCs at any given time (with my provider that is). I think ...

Downloading authenticated podcast ?

I had a look around, but can't find anything useful. Just wondering whether anyone has had a go at this. Ultimately what i would like is to do auto-download of authenticated (ie paid for) podcasts once a day. for now i'm using gpodder on a windows PC (but i'm not too thrilled about how it works/beha...

Re: Perfect and cheap HW for IPFIRE

i use a raspberry pi - simply for low energy consumption (i'm actually in the process of converting it completely to solar using a 9V/16W solar panel with and a 10000 mAh powerbank that can give me 5V & 2A output) i used to use smoothwall express on a mini-itx board, yes more powerful, better cp...

Re: Firewall rule problems & solutions !

Another thing i find quite handy, is using iPfire's built-in feature of using NAMES for IP-addresses of PCs . Let say you access your wireless router often, but constantly forget what ip address you've used (i know this sounds unlikely, but it's an example, so stay with me on this one). You can go t...
