Re: Core 110: unbound does not resolve DHCP names

I tried to replicate your issue but it works correctly on both an IPFire Core 110 firewall box and the two servers on our test network. Did you have this issue previous to Core 110? What have you tried to resolve the issue? If you could post more information about your DHCP configuration it would ai...

Re: OpenVPN-2.4.0 integration into IPFire

Thanks for the update. I am going to try to pull this to a test box this weekend, time permitting. Will attempt to give you some feedback after that.

Best regards,
Fred

Re: Core 110 Unbound Issue/Bug?

The init file for unbound is in /etc/rc.d/init.d. The diff listed in bugzilla is designed for use with the patch utility. You can either use patch or directly edit the file. If you are not sure how to use these, it might be a good idea to wait for the update. The incorrect application of this change...

Re: Core 110 Unbound Issue/Bug?

Just confirming - the fix from Bugzilla solved the issue on all of the firewalls where it appeared.

Thanks for the quick fix!

Re: CORE 110 Testing

Another weird issue: after update and reboot the System ---> Home page reports Note: WARNING: DNSSEC has been disabled But nothing is changed from 109: I use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as DNS and looking at the startup messages they come up without any problem. IPFire_WebAppsTest.png I also have this same...

Re: Core 110 Unbound Issue/Bug?

Hello , Is your issue similar to what's displayed on the screenshots added? I get the message on the main web UI stating it is disabled however in External it shows up as validating. I have this issue on several systems. Previously, these same systems had no issues. Since it has not caused other is...

Re: Core 110 testing

Could not get it to work from openSUSE Leap 42. Some of the prerequisites are present in Core 110: /lib/cups/filters/epson-escpr & /lib/cups/filters/epson-escpr-wrapper. CUPS log in IPFire showed no errors & web interface reports all jobs completed - but no printout - indeed no activity at ...

Re: UNBOUND : performance issues with many users while surfing the web

I have a number of mods in the sysctl.conf file currently to address using higher "horsepower" hardware than IPFire is usually oriented toward. Will compare your changes to those I currently have and research any others you have provided. I will be posting my response in the English Develo...

Re: Ossec for IPFire

Just saw that you have now added x64 packages! Have downloaded them and will try to install and test shortly. Will report back any news, good or bad.

Thanks in advance for all of you hard work!

Core 110 testing

Upgraded a "clean" Core 109 testing box with no issues. While a reboot does not seem necessary, the box performed better a reboot. No issues with the system so far.

Good work!

Re: Ossec for IPFire

I've been watching this thread with interest for some time now. This being a 32 bit app has been a "non-starter" unfortunately and time does not permit me to do the 64 bit conversion. Glad to see someone else has taken this on and look forward to the results.

Re: Squid - Expected throughput on gigabit

Deepcuts- Do you have Intrusion Detection (snort) turned on? Is it is, can you turn it off, try your test again and post the results? Snort is the biggest load in IPFire closely followed by the Web Proxy (squid). Also, can you post your Web Proxy settings? These can make a *big* difference in squid'...

Re: UNBOUND : performance issues with many users while surfing the web

Michael- Your changes look very good. Another change to consider is adding a neg-cache-size since DNSSEC is in use. Here is a snippet from my current testing unbound init file: # Slice up the cache if [ ${cache_size} -le 16 ]; then echo "rrset-cache-size: $(( ${cache_size} ))m" echo "...

Re: UNBOUND : performance issues with many users while surfing the web

Sorry, but other business required taking a bit of a break from this. I apologize in advance for the length of this post. This is all starting to remind me very much of trying to tune squid, the perennial "problem child". The unbound documentation is good, but much of what is known about h...

Re: UNBOUND : performance issues with many users while surfing the web

hi trymes, thanks for your help. currenlty I've been testing with mods on 3 sides: 1) mods to the unbound init scripts : definetely a boost using 2G of mem! 2) mods on sysctl params, these imho were important too 3) mods on the ISP sides ... they removed some bw shaping filters. overall I think 1+2...
