I would like to add an other job that eventually needs to be done on this list. I am hoping some experts in this area may have a go at this:
The IPFire project is operating its own infrastructure and part of that is a communication server that is running SIP and XMPP services. All parts of this infrastructure are monitored, so that we can find out if there are any problems right now or coming.
For the monitoring purposes, we use cacti
The Jabber server that was added very recently to the IPFire infrastructure is ejabberd, the most widely deployed server software for the XMPP network. We use it for secure communication between the developers and other team members.
Unfortunately, I haven't found any cacti template, so that we can monitor the usage of the jabber server. However, ejabberd comes with an additional module called mod_stats that implements XEP-0039 (http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0039.html
) which defines an interface from which all sorts of data can be obtained.
For example there are some graphs as created by munin:http://stats.jabber.sk/jabber.html#Ejabberd
This is exactly what I am searching for. If anyone knows where to find such a plugin or if anybody wants to help by writing one, I would be very happy.
