Re: How can we improve the IPFire Forums?

But I would certainly not recommend to use pfSense any more since the project is not Open Source any more and for security-relevant software, this is an absolute NO-GO for me! When netgate was trying to take over pfsense initially and pulled the build tools and started being really rude to the post...

Re: Adding netdata to pakfire

First a big thank you for this. I had seen the project in action a few months ago and would love to see it supported by ipfire team. Your installer is very nice and clean and I tried installing on a old laptop that does my backup routing. I ran into some trouble probably because the hardware is too ...

Geoip not accurate?

Hi, I have a email server behind ipfire and I love the geoip to control spam from other countries. I noticed something odd this morning in my logs. Looking at firewall logs by country, I seem to be getting a lot of spam from japan. Checking the whois in ipfire shows that the offending IP is in Austr...

Re: ipfire core Update 100: GRE not passing thru... pptp does not complete connections

Sorry, I know enough linux to screw up a system really fast. Use Deepcuts advice and load the module via rc.local . It will survive a reboot. Then when the new update comes out, remove the entries from rc.local and you should be good. modprobe -h to see the help menu All the modules are listed in ca...

Re: ipfire core Update 100: GRE not passing thru... pptp does not complete connections

I had already known about the modprobe ip_nat_pptp from another distro and I tried that on IPfire and it worked before I found this post on the forum. I also just learned about the broken pasv ftp in core100 and modprobe nf_nat_ftp module. I guess we also need a working radio button for the pptp hel...

Re: Forwarding behind modem

This is how I have mine forwarded. 10.1.1.1 is my server so yours would be 192.168.11.202. Make sure your server is using ipfire as the default gateway and can actually connect to the outside world using the port that you are forwarding. Hope this helps

Re: Fix incorrect bandwidth reporting

Point taken. I like IPfire and if I can help to improve the project, joining the mailing list is the least I can do ;-) I will submit this patch and another one that changes the speedometer on the dashboard to correct format in bps when I get some time.

Re: Fix incorrect bandwidth reporting

Hi Larsen, as I mentioned above, the file was taken from a different thread http://forum.ipfire.org/viewtopic.php?t=4829 . I am not the original author of the patch file and cannot take any credit for the work involved. Somewhere around core 89 I believe, additional rrd graphs were added. This broke...

Re: Fix incorrect bandwidth reporting

Here is the new patch file. I will post it under the other thread also for better search functionality. Directions: 1. cp graphs.pl graphs.pl.bk (copy the original graphs.pl to graphs.pl.bk) 2. Copy the text below and save as graphs.pl.patch in the /var/ipfire directory. 3. Type patch graphs.pl < gr...

Re: Fix incorrect bandwidth reporting

I changed my graph and other relevant headings to bits using this post http://forum.ipfire.org/viewtopic.php?t=4829 . Atleast my interface graphs are consistent. Unfortunately, I still can't change the QoS graphs to bits using that method and the QoS configuration is in bytes also so... I am not laz...

Re: GeoIP not blocking

Aha... The packets didn't make it to my back-end server. So they are blocked, just not shown as such in the firewall logs yet. I should have tested more thoroughly before posting. I guess the front end needs a little polishing (which is understandable at this point in development). Thanks again. Ver...

GeoIP not blocking

Hi, first of all thanks for implementing this feature. I have used this with astaro before and it helps tremendously with spam etc. I have a suspicion that it is not blocking DNAT traffic right now and probably needs a firewall rule to block such traffic. Is that correct? I installed the GeoIP featu...

Rate Limit Connections / GeoIP

Hi, first thank you for a great product. I have been using ipfire as my edge router for a few months and am delighted with its performance. Now for a couple of questions. I have a exim mail server behind ipfire that was getting hammered due to the recently published glibc bug. I was trying to rate l...
