Re: Not resolving domains

if that was my only case, then i would be happy to disable the rule and live with that.

The problem is that every 2-3 days i found out a new case in which the IPS is causing issues.
We should either document all those stuff or provide a bit different approach.

Ilias

Re: Not resolving domains

I was struggling with issues resolving domains. This was the first time that i had this issue and i was somewhat unprepared. The first step was to enter monitoring mode in IPS. I noted down some repetitive rules that were causing troubles. Then i disabled these rules and enabled IPS again. For a few ...

Re: Not resolving domains

So to cut a long story short. The suggested solution is to stop using cloudflare & opendns ?

Any suggestions for other known to work DNS servers ?

Isn't Guardian needless since Suricata is implemented in IPFire?
from the newletter:
The guardian add-on is no longer required any more for the IDS to work but still provides means against SSH brute-force attacks and brute-force attacks against the IPFire Web UI.

Re: Not resolving domains

Gday, Stopped IPS-> DNS resolving not working Stopped Guardian -> DNS started resolving Is guardian causing any problems to others, or it is just irrelevant ? I do not consider either 1.1.1.1 or opendns to have an issue because the DNS resolving issue does not exists permanently, but i will investig...

Not resolving domains

Hello everyone, there has been many days that i have noticed (first noticed on Core update 122) the inability to resolve domain name to IP. My first thought was the DNS server that i have been using. Thus i use 1.1.1.1 and the primary from opendns just to be sure i can resolved fast and kinda secure...

Re: core-update-121: ERROR cannot update because not enough free space on /boot

Physical access to the machine is not that easy. I have mainly access using ssh. Booting another OS to resize the partition would be the last resort.

Re: Proxy on VPN Network Request

so did anyone manage to filter openvpn traffic through ipfire's proxy ? on a similar issue someone suggested : Port-Forward (NAT) TCP/80 from VPN subnet to localhost 127.0.0.1 to dport 3128 (squid port) - add a FW rule on the OpenVPN iface to allow TCP/3128 from OpenVPN subnet to localhost. but that...

Re: samba causing system freeze

It is indeed a samba issue, it only happens when i enable samba service.
It doesn't reboot automatically, it just freezes. I force the reboot.

Finally, i cant switch to (Alt+F12) if the system has crashed.
