host is for host blocking, not for domain blocking. There is no host a.google.com
Don't know but maybe a wildcard would work: * as host and still google.com as Domain name.
No, * didnt work. Thanks.

Re: How to Force clients to use IPFire's DNS

HI Alorotom, I'm not looking for "Hints". Once again I originally wrote: What is the proper way to force clients to use IPFire's DNS proxy? Meaning, deny any DNS request from the Lan that is not IPFire's designated DNS entries. Please provide some instructions, thank you! So I guess you don't have a...

Re: How to Force clients to use IPFire's DNS

IcyFire, It seems I misunderstood your original request as I thought you wanted to prevent the use of all other DNS servers except IPFire itself. Is there a reason why you want your clients to only connect to external (OpenDNS) servers? Why not have them only connect to the IPFire resolver (unbound...

Re: How to block host file urls

Revisiting this thread again, it appears this method to block hosts does not work for me. While testing, none of these entries blocked google.com.

But I figured it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOTjwRE ... e=youtu.be

Re: Snort Rules Update

...Is very disappointing that this basic requirement of the IDS won't be accepted for as a feature request. Especially after the community has shown much more interest in it than captive portal or RAID proposals. The evidence suggests that the core developers and the customers of Lightning Wire Lab...

Re: Snort Rules Update

I wish this would become a package available in IPFire. How can we help make this happen? I still cant believe after all this time we still have to manually update Snort.

Any update on this? Working?

How to Force clients to use IPFire's DNS

What is the proper way to force clients to use IPFire's DNS proxy? Meaning, deny any DNS request from the Lan that is not IPFire's designated DNS entries. Please provide some instructions, thank you! There is this but it no longer appears to be relevant: https://wiki.ipfire.org/configuration/firewal...

Memory Graph & Swap Graph - Errors

Under: Status -> Memory It does not show the graphs of the Memory & Swap. It Says: The image "https://MY IPFIRE IP/cgi-bin/memory.cgi?memory?day" cannot be displayed because it contains errors. The image "https://MY IPFIRE IP/cgi-bin/memory.cgi?swap?day" cannot be displayed because it contains error...

SNORT rules empty?

Tried to update Emergingthreats.net Community Rules Below it says the Snort rules file is empty? Does this mean the rules file is not active or not working? Re: Snort Rules Update

I received a response from Lightning Wire Labs about Snort not automatically updating. At least this is an answer where there was none before. I just wish this feature could go to funding to get implemented. indeed this does not automatically update at the moment. We have no plans to add this functi...
