Re: IPFire shutting down

Just had a reboot (not a shutdown) without me requesting it. In logs I can see: agetty: checkname failed: Operation not permitted shutdown: shutting down for system reboot init: switching to runlevel: 6 The machine rebooted and it is working now, but I must say I have never experienced such a behavi...

Re: Question about core update 126 and the site https://wetransfer.com

Did a quick test upload and it is working just fine. wt.png I am using transparent proxy on http without any setting in browsers. https sites are bypassed in proxy so IPFire does not interfere with https://wetransfer.com/ unless you did some sort of SSL bump and you are intercepting/using SSL sites ...

error: read (in tcp r): Connection reset by peer for IP

Having some issues accessing forum.ipfire.org from time to time I thought to look in my own logs to see if there are some issues. Strange enough, the log for unbound is filled with the error: unbound: [6160:2] error: read (in tcp r): Connection reset by peer for 192.168.1.11 port 52493 I have search...

Re: How to block local LAN SPecific IPs from INternet

Assign static IPs via DHCP. Better yet, also get a smart switch to make sure client X on port X can only come from specific MAC so the user cannot change MAC and IP, thus bypass the rule. Haven't tested, but I think you might need to create a rule to allow traffic from the selected IPs to the DHCP s...

Re: Weird time problem

Found a fix.
Edit /etc/init.d/setclock
The 3rd line should be CLOCKPARAMS=
Modify the line to CLOCKPARAMS=--localtime

Now the time is the same and correct everywhere. Even in BIOS.

Re: Fewer than expected CPUs are online

The reason might be to keep the kernel size as low as possible.
I recall any extra CPU would increase the kernel by 8K.
In the past, many distros had even more drastic limitations, like 8-10 CPUs.

ssh port on WUI

Recently I noticed that in WUI, the setting SSH port set to 222 (default is 22) is reversed. Meaning: SSH port set to 222 (default is 22) is ticket = the port will be 22 SSH port set to 222 (default is 22) is not ticked = the port will be 222 Should be the other way around. Not a serious problems, b...
