Re: /etc/hosts problem
I know that hosts.cgi, I'm using it for local hostnames.
But the
Code: Select all
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.178.1 gateway
That's the reason I normally modify /etc/hosts.
In the past (before 2.21) that never gave any problems

/etc/hosts problem
In the past I had custom entries in the /etc/hosts file
But that doesn't seem to be possible anymore, the /etc/hosts seems to be overwritten at reboot with the default entries
I need the additional entries, where can I add them ?

Fireinfo Location
The Location in FireInfo is not the correct Country.
Where can I correct that ? How is it determined ?

Re: [Core122] Startup Random Number Generator FAIL
Is there a way to check my system for existence of a HW RNG ?
To be sure the problem is not only related to the Script-bug
Thanks

[Core122] Startup Random Number Generator FAIL
What might be the reason of "Startup Random Number Generator FAIL" ?
If it's hardware related, how can I find out if my hardware should support it and what to do about it ?
Thanks

Re: Partitions Resize
I don't mind a "less easier way" as long I can make the device working again. I have been recovering partitions and (non-booting) Windows-systems many times, but sadly I don't have the Linux-knowledge. In the meanwhile I made up my mind : If I can't do the same with my IPFIRE, after many years of IP...

Re: Partitions Resize
I was able to resize the SDA1 (Boot) with gparted-LiveCD. So it is now 128Mb aligned to MiB But now the system doesn't boot anymore. At first I saw that the SDA1 was no longer set as active, so I made it active again and updated the MBR, but that doesn't change anything : no booting If I go inside t...

Re: Partitions Resize
In general I don't consider re-install this or that as a solution of a problem but as workaround bypassing the real problem.
No lessons learned at all, no way/guarantee to avoid happening again.
I want to know why things are happening and how to solve them
Thanks

Re: Partitions Resize
Problem is when you do have a headless device, like me and have only access via serial console. Guess many of us have this configuration. In this case you have to dismount your HDD/SDD and attach it to a PC in order to use partition tools like GParted. Exactly ! When I started this Topic, I was 100...

Re: Partitions Resize
Is this a pain ! Really no transition path !? Problem 1: I deleted the Swap-Partition and recreated a new one (with Minitool Partition Wizard) : Primary / Linux-swap The old Swap-partition was too small (256mb) and I have 1gb memory. So I created a larger one and left some unallocated space before t...

Re: Partitions Resize
Can I delete it with a PartitionManager (like PartitionGuru) without breaking IPFIRE ?
Aren't there any links in IPFIRE to that partition ?
I don't have a lot of Linux-experience :-(
Thanks
