Re: Service Squid and Speedlimit

Just tested to be sure on my own router from signature. I recall a lower squid CPU usage while I was using the kernel made by Trikolon back in 2017 ( see https://forum.ipfire.org/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=18372#p105975 ) Now, with the latest kernel, downloading a file cached in proxy will drive my CPU to...

Expertise/knowledge for what?
IPFire cannot do what you are asking.
I would really like to see that list that "goes on" with Mikrotik.
PS: You can integrate snort with Mikrotik's firewall.

Re: Service Squid and Speedlimit

Are you running the latest core update?
Old version had this problem with squid using too much CPU.

Re: Error on boot

Do you have a complex setup with lots of VPN clients, lots of firewall rules or other special network requirements? If the answer is no, just start from scratch. If the answer is yes, but you have made no backup via WUI, the answer is still the same. If you have made some WUI backups, we have someth...

Re: Error on boot

Looks to me like an unfinished core update more then some packages being updated.
As in: the machine was forcefully rebooted before it could finish the update.

My advice: start from scratch with the latest version.

Re: IPFire reboot when RED is lost

Have not tested but a simple script should do the trick. Maybe schedule it every other minute. #!/bin/bash TMP_FILE=/tmp/inet_up # Action if no ping reply from specific host no_inet_action() { shutdown -r +1 'No internet.' } if ping -c5 IP-accessible-only-from-vpn; then echo 1 > $TMP_FILE else [[ `c...

Re: /etc/hosts problem

Using the IPFire's local DNS, local hosts and external ones are resolved just fine.

Re: Boot message: cannot get device udp-fragmentation-offload

I recall reading some pdf stating intel 211 and 219 having these capabilities. Cannot find that info so I guess I was wrong.
Thank you. Understood.

Boot message: cannot get device udp-fragmentation-offload

For some time now, my CLI shows "cannot get device udp-fragmentation-offload settings: Operation not supported" as the last message while IPFire starts. Funny thing is that I cannot find the error message in bootlog or messages. As far as I can see, others having this error on other distros say it i...

Re: OpenVPN can only see SOME GREEN addresses

It is the firewalls on linux machines. Your OVPN client comes from a different private IP than the linux machine is expecting traffic from, thus it is dropped. Shutdown the firewall on linux machines to test or add an exception. Same thing happens to Synology NAS boxes when accessed from a different...

Re: GREEN1, GREEN2, GREEN3 Interfaces - How to

If you really really need so many subnets, each on every port, I suggest you try mikrotik's RouterOS which comes with 24 hour trial.
You can setup each port to your heart content via WinBox.

Re: Connection lost doing Speed Tests

Some intel network cards have problems with high speed downloads generating some crash info in /var/log/messages if I recall. Not 100% sure on location. I have such a card I wanted to use on orange, but, even between green and orange transfer it crashed. Had to change nic model. I do not believe it ...
