Re: OpenVPN error after updating to Core Update 120

I can confirm the disappearing Web UI and that rebooting the machine does resolve the issue. It's highly likely this is due to the updates to OpenSSL. This is not the first time this has happened during security updates to IPFire, but it would have nice if the release notes had mentioned this would ...

Re: Meltdown & Spectre patches ?

It seems very likely this will be addressed quite quickly. It has always been this way in the past. My guess is there will be an update announced shortly.

Re: load balancer and bandwidth manager

IPFire is designed to use one WAN connection "out of the box". A second WAN connection can be configured manually with some considerable amount of effort. It really is not currently designed to do what you are asking.

Re: Core Update 117 is available for testing.

I have a couple of test firewalls in place which have been updated to Core 117.

No issues installing and none noted during the 48 hours they have been running. I do not have the Captive Portal configured on these test machines so I can't confirm.

Core 115 Testing

Updated a test firewall that was loaded with a backup of a production core 114 system. Core 115 installed without any issues and has been running without issues for over 24 hours. I did notice that it did run a bit better after a restart even though no restart was suggested after installing the upda...

Re: OpenVPN-2.4.x integration into IPFire

Will the Core 113 work with Core 114 or will you need to update your packages to support Core 114?

Fred

Re: 2.19 update 114 not found by Pakfire

Reviewing our installed firewall systems and one thing stands out - all of the i586 systems show the 113 to 114 update and NONE of the x86_64 systems show the update. It would appear only the i586 version has made it to the mirrors at this time. Perhaps eventually the x86_64 version will show up.

USB installs only from internet

On every release after Core 109, the USB drive installs *only* from the internet. To create the USB, I use rufus and the ISO image style of copying to the USB drive. I am able to install from the internet but I can not find a way to install a "CD style" installation option. This is a problem with ve...

Re: Core 112 Testing

Has anyone else been testing the Core 112 update?

I've seen unbound lock up a couple of times, but am fairly certain it is something to do with our testing environment. Just curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Core 112 Testing

The installation of the Core 112 went as expected - no surprises. After a reboot, the firewall seems more responsive. Squid, in particular, works much better and is less demanding of the CPU. It also seems to have cleared up some of the outstanding squid bugs. Thanks to all who worked so hard on thi...

Arne.F, my search of the forums did not find this post for some reason. Maybe I didn't figure out how to use the new search in phpBB correctly.

Core 112 Testing

I see from Michael's release note that iftop has been removed. Say it isn't so! I looked for a notice that iftop is no longer being maintained, but could not find one. That said, other releases have quietly dropped it as well. Iftop has been my "go-to" utility for "what is slowing down the internet"...

Re: OpenVPN '--ns-cert-type' is deprecated

[quote="ummeegge"]Have pushed now a first idea to Git which includes: - Extended key usage based on RFC3280 TLS rules for OpenVPNs OpenSSL configuration, so '--remote-cert-tls server' can be used instead of the old and deprecated '--ns-cert-type server' if the host certificate (Root certificate by t...

Thanks so much for doing the investigation on this! Time (and software) marches on and being prepared is far better than being surprised.
