Running primary/secondary DNS server behind IPFire?

Post by jlgtx » December 27th, 2018, 1:46 pm

I have a "real" DNS server that I'd like to run behind IPFire...it's an authoritative DNS server for multiple domains, so basically I want IPFire to handle DNS queries from hosts on the green network, but any DNS queries coming in from the red network should be passed directly to the DNS server on the green network (we'll call it Bob). I've tried adding a firewall rule to forward anything coming to port 53 to Bob, but it doesn't appear to work. I've tried setting the source to "any" and to "RED" but I get the same thing either way. If I "dig" against Bob from a host on the green network, it works perfectly.
