After clean install and restore, all graphs are broken

Post by ipfireuser5150 » July 6th, 2019, 8:32 pm

So I did a clean install of the x64 core 134 on my system, restored my backup, then restored wio and guardian backups. Everything seems to be working fine except no graphs work at all in the entire interface. They all say "The image cannot be displayed because it contains errors." I tried rebooting the system again but the graphs are still broken. Is this normal after a clean install and backup restore? How to get the graphs displaying again?

With the help of this post:
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=11644#p89465
I got most of the graphs working again.

The graphs that are still broken are:
Status->Services->Processes Graph and Processes Memory Graph
Status->Media->sda graph
Status->External Network->tun0 graph
VPN Roadwarrior Stats
Status->Hardware Graphs->sda graph
Status->NetTraffic (Error: Unable to open backup database "/var/log/vnstat/.green0": No such file or directory Error: Unable to open backup database "/var/log/vnstat/.green0": No such file or directory Error: Unable to open backup database "/var/log/vnstat/.green0": No such file or directory Error: Unable to open backup database "/var/log/vnstat/.green0": No such file or directory Error: Unable to open backup database "/var/log/vnstat/.green0": No such file or directory)

Hi,

Did this proved to be a solution for you guys? because I'm facing the same problem.

Step 1 in the post I linked to was a relatively easy fix that got most of the relevant graphs back. Steps 2.1 and 2.2 involve copying files from another ipfire install which is pretty inconvenient for me considering I don't have another ipfire. I haven't gotten any other solutions so I'm just dealing with the broken graphs that I haven't been able to fix.

Hello,

On Dev e-mail list there are 2 information about rrd:
1. Wrong filepermissions for '/var/log/rrd/wio' after upgrading to Core 133
For this the solution seems to execute

Code: Select all

chown -R root.root /var/log/rrd/wio
2. rrdtool just got an update to its latest version: 1.7.2
For details on this new version see:
https://oss.oetiker.ch/rrdtool/pub/CHANGES

Hope it helps
H&M

PS Dev lists: https://lists.ipfire.org/pipermail/development/

RRD 1.7.2 -> https://lists.ipfire.org/pipermail/deve ... 05974.html
Wrong file permission for /var/log/rrd/wio after Core 133 : https://lists.ipfire.org/pipermail/deve ... 06111.html

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, that ownership change is not related to my issue. I did try it and it had no effect.

From my notes that I got probably from this forum:

If graphs are messed up,

/etc/init.d/collectd stop
rm -fRv /var/log/rrd/*
/usr/sbin/sensors-detect
reboot

After reboot wait about 15 minutes and all the graphs will be working. :)

Thanks, this got the sda and QoS graphs working, but still not the Net-Traffic:
ipfire_nettraffic.PNG
Any suggestions on getting these to display again?

Found a fix for this. Add these lines to your list of commands:
/etc/init.d/vnstat stop
rm -f /var/log/vnstat/*

So in total:

/etc/init.d/collectd stop
/etc/init.d/vnstat stop
rm -fRv /var/log/rrd/*
rm -f /var/log/vnstat/*
/usr/sbin/sensors-detect
reboot

Thank you! That fixed a similar issue I had with the net traffic graphs after a clean install.

From what I understood, the Net-Stat graph issue I was having was due to moving from 32-bit to 64-bit. So I don't think this issue would arise if installing/restoring from the same platform.
