Running on bare SD card?

Post by DangerBunny » June 7th, 2018, 12:10 am

Just installed ipfire on a Netgate APU4, which has a PC engines APU1D4 mb. Ipfire seems to be running great, but I noticed that the sd card is formatted ext4, which makes me wonder if there will be wearout problems over time on the sd card. Is there any kind of advice or a checklist to minimize sd wearout problems? I already verified there's no swap partition, and I could configure remote syslog so it doesn't write log files. Anything else? Is this even something to worry about?

TIA!

If you have used the flash image, the card is formated as ext4 without journaling. This should be the best mode for flashcards...
