bcmwl package

Post by andy120 » November 6th, 2018, 3:22 am

Does the bcmwl package work on ipfire, specifically to run a Asus AC68 card. Or is there another widely available MIMO wlan card? Its a bit confusing because the fireinfo list has way stuff more than the wiki list, but which is correct?

IPFire has no support for the proprietairy bcmwl STA driver from broadcom. We support only hardware that drivers are included to Kernel 4.14...
Also this STA stand for Station so this driver is nealy useless for IPFire because it not support the AP mode.

fiireinfo is not really usefull for find supported hardware because it listed all found pci and usb devices by its id's. (also if there is no driver in the kernel)

Support the project on the IPFire whishlist!

PS: I will not answer support questions via email and ignore IPFire related messages on my non IPFire.org mail addresses.

ok, that shortens the available cards in this country. Instead can i use a D-Link DAP-1665 AP via the blue ethernet port?
