Live Logs

Post by jsbsmd » July 13th, 2018, 11:29 pm

Just wondering if you could have a pick for the various log files to have a live feature as opposed to having to refresh the logs. Even a choice for a refresh rate.

Something similar to the traffic in and out you have at the top.

Hi,
postponed this topic to 'IPFire in General', please post in appropriate section thanks.

Live logs can be overviewed via 'tail -f path/to/log' but this works only with one log file. To overview more logs via one terminal sessions you can use e.g. tmux --> https://wiki.ipfire.org/addons/tmux/start .

Have build longer time ago lnav --> http://lnav.org/ but the last time i tried to build it on IPFire (longer time ago) it has been FTBFS . Multitail --> https://www.vanheusden.com/multitail/ might there also be a solution but is currently also not available for IPFire.

Thanks for the update. I thought feature requests should go into the development area :o . I am aware of using the tail function to view logs, however I was hoping in could be put into the UI.

Opensense does it as follows:

As well as pfsense:
