Core 122 and Dreamplug (kirkwood) - u-boot problems

Post by UZzza » August 11th, 2018, 10:15 pm

Hi guys,

trying to move to Core 122 on the Dreamplug (ARM, Marvel kirkwood). Having trouble with u-boot.
Does anybody have a working u-boot environment to share?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Sorry. I have not updated the wiki for kirkwood based boards.
Please stay tuned... I know that it works but you need an updated u-boot (with ftd support) and new environment.

Ok thanks. Staying tuned. How much time do you reckon? Don't want to be rude ;) . It is just that I am suffering from a defunct asterisk on Core 120, hoping to be able to solve this on 2.21.

I have updated the wiki.

If you have the asterisk unknown opcode bug, this already fixed in the source:
https://git.ipfire.org/?p=ipfire-2.x.gi ... 7bda28b7e2
I will build and put this to testing tree next days...

If you had something different please report more details...

Alright, I shall check the details of the asterisk issue. I remember it screeming something about illegal instructions. My own research suggested that your patch is indeed fixing it. I'll check that out once I have the update sorted.

Thanks for putting the wiki entry. Looks rather clean, I expected even more complicated environment settings due to dtb.

Some early feedback and questions:
  • There is a typo "poot_part"
  • I remember that u-boot updates were potentially dangerous - risk of bricking. I also remember that one should back up the MAC address settings. Can you recommend & reference a safe instruction?
  • wifi-bluetooth not supported... well that's fine by me, never needed it. Is there a way of making sure that the radio is actually off?

I have used this:
https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebia ... adeFromUSB

and i have bricked the dreamplug two times by flashing wrong test-build files. The dreamplug can boot via serial connection also with empty flash with a tool called kwboot. (The jtag mode has not worked at my dreamplug)

Good to know. At least there is a safety net. Thanks for the help. I am going to give it a shot.
