Windows 10 can't connect to OpenVPN

Post by jinnicky » June 14th, 2019, 3:27 pm

I have successfully set up 2 N2N connections with OpenVPN going to other IPFire systems.

I'm added a road warrior connection which is currently showing "Disconnected" where the other two ar "Connected".

I've downloaded and added the .p12 file to my Windows 10 machine which accepted the certificates "bobsown CA" for <All> purposes and "Robert Ewart" for "Client Authentication". Then I added a VPN connection using the Window (builtin) VPN provider and set the VPN type to IKEv2.

When I try to connect I get "A certificate could not be found that can be used with the Extensible Authentication Protocol".

I can ping the server from Windows.

Suggestions please.

This won't work. At least I haven't been able to set up a Windows 10 vpn connection to the ipfire box using only Windows-built-in tools.

You will need to install the OpenVPN client on the Windows clients, download the ZIP configuration file from the Server and save it on the client. Then you can use the OpenVPN client to make a VPN connection to the ipfire machine.

Thanks SuperBigAl

That got me connected and I can ping the server on my local network.

What do I have to do to be able to access Samba shares on my local network?
